<United Airlines to bring back supersonic flying with Boom deal>
On June 3, United Airlines announced that it had signed an agreement to purchase 15 supersonic Overture planes from Boom Supersonic, a U.S. aircraft venture, marking the first time since the Concorde was retired in 2003 that supersonic airliners are expected to return to the world's skies.
Under the agreement, the airline will purchase 15 of Boom's "Overture" aircraft once they meet United's safety, operating and sustainability requirements, with an option for an additional 35 aircraft.
