The A321XLR, an ultra-long-range single-aisle aircraft under development by Airbus

Airbus’ upcoming Extra Long Range single-aisle narrowbody aircraft, the A321XLR, is expected to disrupt the status quo of long-haul travel. With a range of up to 8,700 kilometers (4,700 NM), it is not for nothing it has been heralded as a ‘game-changing’ aircraft. Airbus commenced the structural assembly of its new plane in May this year – but just where is it all taking place?

Any aircraft built today is a tale of multiple sites and countries. Innumerous components come together from all over the world to create the engineering marvels that are the foundations of modern commercial-scale air travel. Airbus has long brought the various parts of its airplanes to its Final Assembly Lines (FAL) from all across Europe and beyond. The trek of the A380 to its FAL in Toulouse will always remain a logistics legend.

While transporting the parts of Airbus’ potentially revolutionizing narrowbody A321XLR may not need quite the same considerations (especially fortified roads through the French countryside), bringing them all together to form a plane still requires some operational planning.

The Speed of Air Force Modernization in Southeast Asia Webinar on September 8!

 Pre-Seminar of Singapore Airshow 2022

There are several pressing demands for new military aircraft in Southeast Asia. However, its progress is slow. What are the key airpower requirements of Southeast Asia over the next decade? And how can each country's domestic industry contribute to meeting these requirements? Industry experts will be invited as panelists to discuss these questions.

CerTCAS, as one of the committees of Aviation Innovation Development Association (AIDA) established.

On April 1, 2021, CerTCAS, one of the committees of the Aviation Innovation Development Association (AIDA), was established!

Objective
CerTCAS was established as a committee stipulated in the Articles of Incorporation of the Aviation Innovation Development Association (AIDA) with the aim of contributing to the development of the aviation industry by supporting the certification activities required for commercial aircraft equipment and building  a cooperative system with the certification infrastructure.
Airframe certification and type certification are common issues in Japan, not only for  the development of  commercial aircraft, but also unmanned aircraft (including drones) as well as flying cars, which have been called the industrial revolution of the sky. In such a situation, we aim to play a role in supporting the promotion of the domestic aviation industry as an organization that consolidates technology, know-how, and intellectual property related to certification in general.
